Yes, ultrasound is completely safe during pregnancy. It uses high-frequency sound waves — no radiation whatsoever. It is the standard imaging modality for monitoring fetal development and is safe at all stages of pregnancy.

For an abdominal ultrasound, fast for 4–6 hours before your appointment (water is allowed). This reduces gas in the bowel and gives a clearer view of abdominal organs including the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and pancreas.

Standard pregnancy ultrasounds include a dating scan at 6–12 weeks, an anomaly scan at 18–20 weeks, and growth scans in the third trimester. Your doctor may recommend additional scans based on your condition. All are available at Zam Zam Diagnostic Centre in Jhelum.

A Doppler ultrasound measures blood flow through vessels. It is used to assess blood circulation in the legs (DVT), neck arteries (carotid Doppler), fetal blood flow during pregnancy, and heart valves. It is safe, radiation-free, and available at Zam Zam Diagnostic Centre, Jhelum.

No referral is required for an ultrasound at Zam Zam Diagnostic Centre. Walk-ins are welcome daily 8 AM – 8 PM. A doctor's prescription is helpful for ensuring the correct study is performed.
